Last week I gave you some history about Grete Waitz. This week I want to share an interview with one of the USA's best current distance runners, Shalane Flanagan. Flanagan recently raced the Berlin Marathon - her goal was to challenge the Africans and win the race, or at the least break the American record for the marathon, and she went for it. With a few miles to go, her body couldn't take anymore and she had to back down...and "settle" for her own marathon PR and a new American Record for 25K. It's a great example of "going for it" and not caring about failure, knowing that failure is merely someone's perspective and, in reality, a building block to bigger and better things.
HERE IS THE INTERVIEW (her part starts at about 50 seconds)
